January 2010
Do you read CBE’s weekly newsletter Arise? Do you find the
articles and updates inspiring? One grateful reader recently thanked
us for Arise in these words:
"I recently subscribed to Arise and love getting the frequent
boosts of encouragement. Having grown up in a church which did not
encourage women except in the most traditional of roles, I find that
no amount of deprogramming is too much. I was a Bible major at a
college where two prominent complementarians taught—need I say
more?! Now I live in a Sunni Muslim area of West Beirut and attend a
church in which women are not invited to usher, let alone pray, read
Scripture, lead singing or preach. I am the only female faculty
member at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary. Arise is
a wonderful ministry to me. I especially appreciate the respect for
God's Word and the irenic tone."
Friends, Arise reaches Christian leaders all over the world!
Just two months ago, a Christian leader working in India told me
that said she sends Arise to her contact list because she
thinks her colleagues would benefit from its biblical resources and
encouragement. This short publication, read by thousands around the
world each week, is one of our greatest outreach tools! Do you
realize that Arise was developed by a CBE intern?
If you work with students you realize how pioneering, technically
savvy, and passionate they are. Now, factor in a zeal for CBE and
you can imagine how CBE interns might dream up and implement some of
our most effective initiatives like Arise. I have some
exciting news for you.
We have three students interested in a 2010 internship with CBE.
They are devoted Christians—they long to reach the world for Jesus,
and they are interested in making a difference at CBE. They will
invest a total of 480 hours, editing Arise, writing articles,
and looking for new paths forward for CBE. Will you consider
sponsoring a CBE intern?
We pay interns a stipend of $200 for 120 hours worked. A stipend is
our way of thanking students for their time and talents. Would you
be the reason we have the benefits of younger minds at CBE? We need
to confirm student stipends soon. We only need four people to donate
$200 to bring this talent to CBE. If you can respond this week, I
would be grateful.
Click here and let us know your gift is for student interns.
Thank you for inspiring students who in turn bring new life to
CBE.
In Jesus,
Mimi Haddad, President
P.S. For every new gift of $200 or more, CBE will send you a
digital copy of Alan Johnson’s article “A Christian Understanding of
Submission: A Nonhierarchical-Complementarian Viewpoint.” |
